Today, with high humidity spaces and water sensitive interior finishes, one must choose between waterproofing, dampproofing and vapor retarder to control vapor drive and bulk water infiltration. These choices can only be made with an understanding of interior and exterior conditions, and whether the aim is to control vapor drive or water infiltration.

As interior finishes use more water and less solvents in their chemical composition and adhesives, the control of vapor drive into interior space is going to become more important to their performance and service life.
