Tashmoo: The Park and the Steamer

For nearly 50 years, Tashmoo Park, which opened on Harsens Island in 1897,was Detroit’s most popular park destination,and a trip aboard the excursion steamer Tashmoo was a highlight of the summer season. Historian and author of the book Tashmoo Park and the Steamer Tashmoo, Art Woodford, tells the story of this unique piece of Michigan history.
