Detroit Jazz Festival will celebrate the effect of Duke Ellington on jazz music, presenting his “Black, Brown and Beige” symphony for big band and other noteworthy works – including “Creole Love Cal,” “Diminuendo and Cresendo in Blue,” “Black Tan Fantasy” and “Black Beauty” on March 10 at 3 pm at The Fillmore. Performances will feature David Berger, tenor sax soloist James Carter and vocalists Alice McAllister Tillman & Shahida Nurullah will join the DJF Orchestra.
