Molly Abraham: The ethnic variety of the metropolitan Detroit restaurant scene got one more thread in the tapestry when the Gozic family opened a simple but attractive spot up a few steps from the Caniff sidewalk. It is one of the few Bosnian restaurants in Michigan, specializing in such dishes as chevapi, made with ground beef and spices with lapna, a thick, pita-like bread and made from what chef Rasim Ramic calls his "secret recipe." The dish is ordered by many of the people who come to the room done up with knotty pine trimmings added by Nermin Gozic, father of the family that includes his wife Elmedina and son Imer. Other specialties include excellent, hearty soups, meat, cheese and spinach bureks (pies), stuffed peppers and veal kebabs with rice and vegetables. Modest, with one little touch of glamor: the copper pots and gold-rimmed cups for Turkish coffee.
