Sep 27, 2007 - Detroit News - Molly Abraham

Construction dragged on for months while the former Bonfire Bistro and Brewery was transformed into Gaucho Brazilian Steakhouse. Watching the slow progress, passers-by wondered what could possibly be taking so long.

My family and I just had dinner here and were seriously disappointed. The salad bar was good. However the meat was disgusting. My wife had two small bites of what is supposed to be the filet mignon and was so disgusted that is all she ate. I had some of the shrimp and a piece of the top sirloin. The shrimp tasted like it was out of the Detroit river and the meat was so overly salty and chewy I have never been so disappointed in a meal. It was not just me and my wife. My sister also came as we were taking our parents out for their 31st year anniversary. Everyone was disappointed. Also a normal wine pour should be 3-5oz, my wife's was probably 2-2.5oz.
When expressing our disappointment to our server I was explaining how the filet mignon tasted like I was eating a hanger steak dipped in salt. His reply was a laugh and followed by a "I've never heard of that" and then walked away. His name was Jeremy.
The managers deal to us was to take $14.00 each meal and charge us full price for the drinks and the two desserts. $32.00 for a small salad and a bite of disgusting salted meat that is making everyone feel sick???
Also the table next to us everyone was intoxicated and the one "gentleman" was wearing a Gaucho vest? What kind of image does that set? I do not want to see some drunk slob eating a rack of lamb with his hands and his ugly fat wife/sister/whore whoever they were open mouth kiss each other.
We will never return here, we like to spend money when we go out to dinner on quality food, I feel I could have had better quality going to Chilli's down the road.
All the people that review it of being good either have no idea what a good piece of meat is or they are just major gluttens. For those people I recommend them to return to their feeding stable at ponderosa. Speaking of stables I feel the meat would work well as a salt lick for cattle.
Also the meat is not served anyhting like shown on their advertisments. Its tiny little pieces the put on your plate.

Never again

Hated it. Too expensive, terrible service. Not worth at all.

good times

well all i have to say is meat meat and more meat. It was way worth the money i really enjoyed about 75% of all thier meat. The salad bar was sweet (best on i have ever seen). Service was good our party enjoyed themself. Yes it is noisey, but its busy and there are dudes with meat on a stick walking around, so of crouse it going to be very noisey. What to understand the guys bring meat to the table and you say yes or no.
