Molly Abraham, Detroit News Restaurant Critic: The shopping strip where this Ethiopian restaurant is located isn't remarkable in any way, but once diners step inside the door, the exotic presence makes itself felt. Meskie Gebreyohannes offers not only the vegetable and meat stews of her country atop the pale brown injera bread that is both edible platter and utensil, but also a hint of the art and culture of Ethiopia in artifacts and pen-and-ink sketches of Ethiopian faces. First to the table is a hot cloth to cleanse the fingers, since the style is to eat with the hands. Some of the notable dishes include a bone-in chicken stew called doro w'et, red lentils simmered in hot pepper sauce, steak tartare, and lamb chunks marinated with onion, garlic, rosemary and red wine. Hot spiced tea and Ethiopian coffee are appropriate beverages. A lunchtime buffet is offered here and also at the Eastern Market satellite at 2453 Russell Street in Detroit

I had eaten at Blue Nile before and found the food delicious! So when I saw that they offered a buffet, I wanted to try a variety of dishes. Very disappointing. Felt kind of dirty in there. No one asked what I wanted to drink. The food had obviously been sitting too long. Not a great selection of food. VERY unappetizing. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Oh yeah, and the hours on their website are wrong...only open until 9 weeknights
