I recently went there for a free screening of "Despicable Me". the movie played great and the staff was friendly. Rave still doesn't have a sign above the doors other than "cinema" but it seems they spend alot of money on presentation, they scrapped the IMAX that showcase had and put in a digital IMAX, went 100% digital projectors (if your a fan of 35mm, this is not your theater). they went from pepsi to coke :( (Mt. Dew Fan). free refills, finally!

No upgrades or changes have been made to this facility since Rave Motion Pictures bought it. It still looks like Showcase Cinemas; everywhere there used to be the word "Showcase" has been blacked out and only "Cinemas" appears, even on the front of the building. There also is still that odd large video game area but nothing is in it so it's a huge area of empty space.
We went there expecting to see a movie and up until 5 minutes before the person collecting tickets made us stand against the wall instead of entering the theater area because she said the theater wasn't ready. Finally she let us in and a number of other people were already seated. Obviously they were seating! Then the movie started and the projection ratio was off so the movie was stretched vertically and cut off on the top and bottom making the movie unwatchable. When we notified Customer Service they said they would fix it as soon as they could but wouldn't start the movie over. At that point it was useless. The only reason I'm giving Rave one star is because the Customer Service person gave me a refund right away. Why don't they have someone make sure the movie is running correctly at the start?
If we had gotten a babysitter we would have been upset that the night had been wasted.
I will not be going there again. Last time I was there (albeit it was Showcase at the time) they had a mysterious power outage, so we didn't see the movie then either. I will not make this mistake a third time. Quality 16 on Jackson Road is much better in Ann Arbor.
